The Donald W. Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI) engages journalism professionals, organizations, scholars and communities in programs, tools, resources and workshops aimed at strengthening community-centered journalism through practical innovation.
We would love to see newsrooms work with our collaboration toolkit to help us fine tune and grow this resource! We will award chosen collaborations a $5000 stipend for their project.
Step 1.) Read the toolkit to know what you're expected to work with (you can use any resources you want to execute your project, but we'd like you to try what we provide to test it out)
Step 2.) Find a parter with our collaboration station that aligns with your topic, community, mission and values (or most of them!)
Step 3.) Work together to pitch an idea for a collaborative project below!
Newsrooms who apply for this stipend understand that:
- All challenges, lessons learned, setbacks in your collaboration will be shared transparently with RJI to help inform additions or refinements to the toolkit.
- RJI will be present (but not meddle!) when possible in your project meetings, progress and discussions around the project.
- From this experience you will build/contribute at least one actionable template, guide or resource to be included in the toolkit for journalists/newsrooms to utilize.
- Half of the stipend will be provided at the beginning of the project and half when the project is completed.
If you registered for the WIJ Workshop and need assistance with travel or housing, please apply for a scholarship below. The number of scholarships provided every year depends on sponsors, donations and other fiscal factors. You will be notified by email if you receive a scholarship.
